In these times of alternative facts, flaunting norms and inflammatory rhetoric, I have a positive story.
I lost my wallet. I looked all over the house and car, and it was not to be found. Then I decided to retrace my steps. I went back to Aldi on New Park Avenue, West Hartford. I identified myself to the section manager and asked if anyone had returned a wallet. She came out of the office with my wallet.
Everything was there — my dollar bills, my credit cards and my Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art membership card.
Nothing had been taken from my wallet. The manager did not know who handed in my wallet to the office, whether it was a customer or someone on staff. Whoever you are, my thank-yous. It made my belief in the goodness of men and women a little stronger.
