I looked forward to my daily USA Today, especially on Friday and Al Neuharth's column. He regularly mentioned his home state of South Dakota.
One column mentioned his young children and their joy at visiting the summer home in Eureka.
I was a teenager when he started SoDak Sports. It didn't last very long, but was a great rag about home state sports. As I remember is was kind of burnt orange in color.
I didn't always agree with his politics, I thought he was a little tough on Dick Cheney, but will admit that he was just as hard on Clinton during his travails as he was on George W. Bush.
He was a wonderful South Dakotan who helped us be even more proud of our state.
I will miss his column.
