1844: Samuel F.B. Morse transmitted the message, ''What hath God wrought'' from Washington to Baltimore as he formally opened America's first telegraph line.
1969: Construction crews worked on Dakota Midland Hospital, a 100-bed facility near Wylie Park that was to open in June 1969.
1980: Iran rejected a call by the World Court in The Hague to release the American hostages.
1985: The Aberdeen Humane Society was hoping to begin construction on a building in the fall. The society was organized in 1982 and had been raising funds for that project ever since.
