White Chocolate Milkshake Martini
Where: Mayor Mike's Restaurant, 283 Asylum St., Hartford
Ingredients: Stoli Vanilla vodka, Godiva white chocolate liqueur, white Crème de Cacao, milk, and topped with chocolate chips (when available)
Cost: $9
My only real complaint about this rich, creamy, delectable little martini concoction from Mayor Mike's Restaurant is that they were out of chocolate chips to sprinkle on top of it.
But, aside from that, there was nothing to complain about any of the tastes present in this glass — as it was quite a tasty beverage indeed (not to mention an extremely eye-catching one to boot).
After swirling a generous allotment of chocolate sauce around the inside of the glass — which helps give the finished product a little vertigo effect — the friendly bartenders at former Hartford Mayor Mike Peters' restaurant like to start this bad boy off with a stiff base of Stoli Vanilla vodka, which helps give this drink its surprising bite. Then come liberal amounts of Godiva white chocolate liqueur and white Crème de Cacao, both adding their own distinctively sweet brand of flavoring. Pour in a little milk. Give it a few good shakes. Pour it back in the glass. Top the whole thing off with a few chocolate chips (when available). And you have the recipe for one very sweet, yet surprisingly strong, and entirely delicious, cocktail. This is one milk shake that's good to the very last drop, but only for the adults.
And if the chocolate chips are really that big a deal, just bring your own.
