Emergency crews arrived to the Indiana Statehouse Thursday morning, after two Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis students passed out.
The students were part of a group of graduate student who were touring the Department of Education.
The girls were taken out of the statehouse on a stretcher.
Sgt. Bursten with Indiana State Police said three people in total were taken to an area hospital, and 14 people were evacuated from the area. He said around 12 people complained of being lightheaded or dizzy. No one else in the statehouse experienced health issues.
Indianapolis Fire Department HAZMAT crews took readings of the building and found nothing to be unsafe. However, HAZMAT turned off the air vents as a precaution.
It is unknown at this time what caused several students to feel lightheaded.
