Texas Roadhouse Fire (WXIN-TV FOX59 / January 4, 2010)

Indianapolis Firefighters are still on the scene of a building fire at the Texas Roadhouse at 1405 N Shadeland.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police received a report of a burglar alarm just after 12:30 a.m. Upon investigation, they reported smoke coming from the roof of the Texas Roadhouse East.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and fire was billowing out of the rear of the building. The smoke and flames became too overwhelming for crews to be inside so they assumed an offensive attack from outside the restaurant.

According restaurant management, they estimate a 4 million dollar loss. He states the building is 3 million just to build and the contents are a worth 1 to 1. 5 million.

Management is grateful that no one was injured on this fire but saddened for 135 employees he has working there. They will be placed in other area restaurants to work until the owners can rebuild.

The rebuild will take approximately 4-6 months.

It took more than 30 firefighters about 2 hours and 20 minutes before the fire was under control.

This Texas Roadhouse has been in this location since March 1998.
