Comeback Athlete winners provide inspiration at Methodist Sports Medicine Awards

Five Indiana Student-Athletes recognized with Thomas A. Brady Comeback Athlete Awards, Joe Tiller & Bob Griese honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards


For the seventh consecutive year, Methodist Sports Medicine recognized outstanding student athletes who have overcome incredibly difficult circumstances to achieve success.

At the banquet Thursday held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, a video profile was played to honor each of the award winners. The following courageous student athletes were recognized following their inspirational stories:

2012 Thomas A. Brady, MD Comeback Award Recipients:

Robbie Hummel, Purdue University men's basketball player

Ashtyn Brown, Ball State University women's golfer, two-time cancer survivor

Evan Meade, Franklin Community H.S. football player, cancer survivor

Alysia Bennett, three-sport athlete at Sullivan H.S., cancer survivor

Bradley Humphrey, Crispus Attucks H.S. tennis player, State Fair stage collapse survivor

Also at the banquet Purdue legends Bob Griese and Joe Tiller were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Twelve student athletes were also recognized by the IHSAA for winning the C. Eugene Cato Memorial Scholarships.
