BEDFORD, Ind. (AP) — State police say a man apparently committed suicide inside the lobby of a southern Indiana sheriff's office.
Police say a 25-year-old Bloomington man entered the lobby of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department in downtown Bedford on Thursday evening. No one else was hurt.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells The Times-Mail (http://bit.ly/11z0PBz ) that the man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene in the city about 20 miles south of Bloomington.
Craig says deputies found the man's body after being called by department dispatchers who heard a disturbance in the lobby. Craig says he asked state police to handle the investigation.
