Lancaster County Fire Levels House and Displaces Family
An early-morning fire destroys a Denver Borough home and causes $440,000 in damages.

It started around 2:30 a.m. along the 100 block of East Lancaster Avenue.

Crews arrived to find the house fully-involved through all floors and flames shooting through the roof. It took crews from seven fire companies several hours to knock down the fire.

The blaze went up to two alarms and closed East Lancaster Avenue from South 4th Street to Fausnacht Drive for a few hours.

No cause has been determined, but the fire started in the garage, Denver Fire Company Assistant Fire Chief Harold Martzall says.

"Two people were home when the fire started and probably would not have made it out of the home alive without working smoke detectors," Martzall says. Everyone made it out without any injuries.
