A Suffolk County man was arrested early Wednesday for driving the wrong way on the Sunrise Highway while intoxicated.
Cops say Bogdan Mychajlyszyn, 43, of Garfield Street in North Bellmore, was driving his 2007 Dodge van eastbound on the westbound side of the Sunrise Highway at about 12:30 a.m.
While driving the wrong way, he struck a 1998 Mazda and continued driving eastbound on the service road between Straight Path Road and Little East Neck Road.
When officers located Mychajlyszyn, he was driving at a reduced speed and reversed directions to travel the correct way on the westbound side of the Sunrise Highway.
Mychajlyszyn was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
He is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday. The van was also imponded for a safety check.
