NEW YORK (PIX11)—Free Wi-Fi will soon be available at 20 New York City parks, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Thursday.
The Wi-Fi roll out is part of a new five-year initiative unveiled by Bloomberg and CEO of AT&T Randall Stephenson.
Wireless internet is already available in three locations - Battery Park, Joyce Kilmer Park in the Bronx and at Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem.
Officials say the program is aimed at providing internet access to residents who might not otherwise have it. It also promotes people to spend time outdoors at local parks.
