Two teenagers were arrested and charged with vandalizing at least two dozen vehicles in communities on Long Island, Suffolk County Police announced.

According to authorities, 18-year-old Jake Cassidy and a 14-year-old were arrested Sunday after an officer spotted the pair traveling in a vehicle described over a radio notification as being at the scene of several acts of criminal mischief that had recently occurred in the area.

Police arrested the teens for damaging a 1995 Volvo 850 at 69 Maple Place, Huntington just hours earlier.

An investigation determined that the two were responsible for committing more than 25 acts of vandalism to vehicles in the Huntington, Lloyd Harbor and Cold Spring Harbor areas that occurred this past weekend. Detectives also believe the pair is behind a slew of other acts of vandalism to other vehicles throughout the past month.

Both suspects were charged with two counts of criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, four counts of criminal mischief in the 3rd degree and four counts of criminal mischief in the 4th degree, officials said.

Cassidy, a resident of Cold Spring Harbor, was also charged with one count of solicitation for soliciting the 14-year-old boy to commit a felony. The 18-year-old was scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police say the 14-year-old boy, whose identity wasn't released because of his age, was released into the custody of his parents. He will appear at Family Court in Hauppauge at a later date.
