Texting Teen Critically Injures Brooklyn Deliveryman
A teenage driver who was texting on her cell phone mowed down a Chinese restaurant deliveryman, sending him to the hospital where he remains in critical condition, according to New York City police.

The incident happened around 11:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Avenue P and E. 17th St in Ocean Parkway, Brooklyn.

According to police, Tiam Sheng Lin, 53, an employee at Best China Restaurant, was struck by Nechama Rothberger, 19, as he attempted to turn left onto E. 17th St. Cops say Rotherberger became distracted when she was texting while driving her Toyota Camry, hitting Lin as he rode his two-wheeled motorized scooter.

Lin was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Rothberger has been charged with a misdemeanor of reckless driving. In addition, she was issued a violation for driving while using a mobile phone.
