According to the Suffolk County Department of Health, an individual at Commack High School has been diagnosed with tuberculosis. The affected person is presently receiving treatment and is not currently in attendance as a staff member or student. Therefore, there is no further risk of transmission.
A letter was mailed to the parents of all high school students and each high school staff member regarding this matter.
A separate letter was sent to all students and staff who were identified as having been in close and prolonged contact with this individual.
In an effort to keep the community informed, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services will conduct two general information sessions for parents on Thursday, October 13, and Friday, October 14, at 7:00 PM, in the high school auditorium.
