WOODBURY, N.Y. (WPIX)—Authorities are investigating three incidents on Long Island in which boxes of JELL-O pudding mix were tampered with.
Suffolk County police say the incidents, which occurred on March 24 and 25, occurred at Stop & Shop locations in both Smithtown and Setauket.
Authorities say the suspect is accused of purchasing the pudding, making the contents, and then re-stuffing the empty box with aquarium sand before returning it to the store.
Nassau County police are also reportedly investigating a similar incident that occurred in Woodbury.
Officials are urging the the public to exercise caution with any food item if the packaging appears to be tampered with or if it does not appear to be in the original packaging.
So far, no one has been caught.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
