The incident reportedly occurred Jan. 15 when Norman Besemer, 61, of Shirley, was driving students home from Frank P. Long Intermediate School in Bellport.
The student whose mouth was allegedly taped shut with plastic tape was one of several students who were acting up on the bus, Gregory Miglino Jr., president of the district's board of education, said last week.
Besemer apparently pulled the bus over and put the tape over the students mouth for 10 minutes in between stops
Following a probe by the district, Besemer was reportedly fired from his job at the Montauk Bus Service.
Besemer was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 30.
