Kyanna Thomas was just 16-years-old, but her life came to a tragic end early Sunday morning after someone stabbed her in the neck.

It happened at the corner of MacDougal Street and Saratoga Avenue, in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, sometime around 3:15 a.m., according to police. Relatives say Kyanna lived with her mother in the Rosedale section of Queens, but was staying at her aunt's home for the weekend.

Police have been a visible presence in the neighborhood, day and night. They've reportedly recovered the murder weapon and are trying to figure out her cell phone password to examine messages, texts and numbers. Detectives are also checking out nearby security cameras that may have caught the suspect on videotape.

Police say Kyanna used her cell phone to call 911. Emergency medical technicians arrived to rush her to Interfaith Hospital - but she died before she got there.
