Police Search For Man Wanted For Sexual Assault
Police are looking for a man who shot at NYPD officers while they were investigating the sexual assault of a woman in Brooklyn. Shortly after the shooting, another woman was raped on a rooftop in another section of the borough.

The first victim was a 21-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted on Brighton Beach’s Ocean View Ave. at approximately 11 P.M.  The victim was taken to Coney Island Hospital and gave the police a description of the perpetrator.

The officers saw a man who matched the description and pulled up behind him on Neptune Ave. The suspect fired a handgun at them and fled, according to reports.

Nobody was hit and the cops did not return fire.

Police are offering a $12,000 reward for any information leading to the eventual arrest of Norman Vanigas, 23, who they believe is the shooter. Investigators are trying to determine if he is also tied to sexually assaults

Police described Vanigas as 5’5”, 140 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
