Monserrate Tries To Regain His State Senate Seat
Voting is underway for the New York State Senate seat once held by expelled Senator Hiram Monserrate. Among those vying for the position, Monserrate himself.

Carrying the load of a misdemeanor conviction for dragging his girlfriend through an apartment lobby and losing democratic backing, Monserrate is running on the "Yes We Can" line.

He is facing Assemblyman Jose Peralta, who is running on the Democratic side and Republican Robert Beltrani.

The Senate seat up for grabs is located in the heavily Democratic northern Queens district.

A recent Siena College poll had Peralta up by 45 points over Monserrate.

Polls close at 9 p.m.
