FREEPORT, N.Y. (WPIX)—
According to detectives, Allen Hubbard, 18, began shooting the BB gun from a window in his Archer Street residence, while looking after the toddler. At one point, Hubbard "fired one round at the child, striking her in the abdomen," a Nassau County police report said.
A short time later, when the child's mother realized what happened and saw the wound, she rushed the girl to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released, police said. Hospital personnel later notified Freeport Police who arrested Hubbard at 9:45 p.m.
Hubbard is scheduled for arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead Friday.
