Two Uninjured After Small Plane Crash On Long Island
Two men dodged injuries Saturday after their small plan crashed in shallow waters off the south shore of Long Island.

Police say the single-engine plane went down just after 1 p.m., about 30 feet from the Sayville shore.

The two passengers had made their way to shore by the time emergency units arrived. Emergency responders said the pilot and passenger appeared to be only be "shaken up and cold" from the partially frozen water.

They were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

Police say the plane took off from Bayport Aerodrome about 12:55 p.m., and started to suffer from engine trouble almost immediately.

The pilot attempted to put the plane down along the shore, but instead ended up crashing in the water.
