SAYVILLE, N.Y. (WPIX)—Two men dodged injuries Saturday after their small plan crashed in shallow waters off the south shore of Long Island.
Police say the single-engine plane went down just after 1 p.m., about 30 feet from the Sayville shore.
They were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.
Police say the plane took off from Bayport Aerodrome about 12:55 p.m., and started to suffer from engine trouble almost immediately.
The pilot attempted to put the plane down along the shore, but instead ended up crashing in the water.
