LI Mom Charged With Setting House Fire That Injured Children
Police on Long Island have charged a woman with intentionally starting a fire inside her home that injured her two children as well as herself.

According to authorities, Natashia Reed, 25, was charged Wednesday with arson, assault and reckless endangerment in connection to the blaze that broke out inside her Hempstead apartment on April 13.

Reed, who is still recovering from severe burns she suffered in the fire, was arrested inside her hospital room at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where she is being treated, police said.

Investigators did not reveal a motive, but said an investigation determined that Reed set the fire in the home's kitchen.

Reed's 5-month-old daughter suffered burns to 5 to 10 percent of her body, while her 3-year-old son suffered smoke inhalation in the blaze, Newsday reported. The boy has since recovered from his injuries. The condition of the baby girl wasn't immediately known.
