LI Man Charged In Fatal New Year's Eve Hit-And-Run

Authorities on Long Island have made an arrest in a fatal hit-and-run that left a Huntington Station man dead on New Years Eve.

According to Suffolk County Police, 45-year-old William Koziatek was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash. Koziatek, was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday.

Officials say Cesar Gudiel was walking in the roadway along New York Avenue near East 21st Street at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Dec. 31st when he was struck by a car traveling northbound on New York Avenue.

The car, driven by Koziatek, continued to travel northbound on New York Avenue after striking Gudiel.

Gudiel, 46, was transported by Huntington Community First Aid Squad to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
