NEW YORK (PIX11)—The "guidos" and "guidettes" of the "Jersey Shore" are going back to their roots -- at least some of them.
After already infuriating Italian-American cultural groups in the Tri-State, MTV announced that the fourth season will be shot in the Motherland itself, Italy.
Whether or not Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi or Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino will even be able to understand the bouncers and bartenders at the local clubs is highly doubtful. Whether or not they care is another question.
Vinny Guadagnino is reportedly the only cast member who can speak and understand Italian. Jenni "J-Woww" Farley and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi aren't Italian at all, according to Jezebel.com --Farley is Spanish and Irish, and Polizzi is Chilean.
Guadagnino, who is now Tweeting only in Italian following the announcement, set up a welcome dinner for the cast with his Italian relatives, TMZ reported. In other episodes Gudagnino's mother has appeared on the show to host traditional Italian feasts.
This is the second time the crew has transported the party out of the Seaside Heights, N.J., location after the second season was filmed in Miami.
The third and current season was filmed last summer, with highlights including the addition of new cast member Deena Nicole Cortese, Snooki's new accomplice, and a feud heating up between Jenni "J-Woww" Farley and Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola.
The third season premiere, shot in New Jersey, topped the charts and became the networks most watched series episode ever, with 8.45 million viewers.
