SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY (PIX11)—A massive flag hung from two ladder trucks in tribute to Lieutenant Richard Nappi outside of the Maoloney Funeral Home in Lake Ronkonkoma. Thursday was the first of two days for wake services in his honor as those who knew Nappi prepare to say good-bye.
Prior to joining the FDNY in October 1994, Nappi was a parole officer and case worker for Suffolk County's Department of Social Services. During his years as a firefighter, Nappi helped keep countless New Yorkers safe. He was even one of the first responders on one of New York's most tragic day, September 11, 2001.
There will be a wake held Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 from 2-4 p.m. to 7-9 p.m. at Moloney's Lake Funeral Home at 132 Ronkonkoma Ave. in Lake Ronkonkoma. The funeral is set for Saturday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church located at 800 Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma. Lt. Nappi will be buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.
