NEW YORK (PIX11)—It’s been more than eight years since Kathleen Savio’s body was discovered – faced down stuffed into a dry bathtub in her home outside Chicago.
Today, a jury convicted her husband, Drew Peterson – a former police officer of her murder.
Peterson offered no visible reaction as the verdict was read.
“I want to thank everybody that stood behind us on this. I can’t enjoy this right now. It’s bittersweet. Like i said before, I will never have my sister again, i still have to go to the cemetery. At least i know she got justice from that cold blooded killer out there”, said Kathleen’s brother, Nick Savio.
This was a trial that almost didn’t happen.
Prosecutors charged Peterson with Savio’s death only after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson disappeared.
“We all love her and will never forget her. She will be missed and remembered – and in our hearts always. Stacy, you are now next for justice”, said Savio.
