BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11)—Police are asking for the public's help to find the suspect behind a deadly shooting in East Flatbush that killed one boy and injured another.
Investigators say the gunman approached a 13-year-old boy just after 7 p.m. Saturday at the corner of East 39th Street and Avenue J, shooting him in the buttocks. Then, they say, the suspect walked up to 15-year-old Dequan Mercurius and shot him in the chest. They were rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced Dequan dead.
People in the neighborhood are shocked and upset, saying it's generally a very quiet area.
