Man Dead After Firework Explodes Inside Queens Home
Police are investigating after a man was killed when a firework went off inside his home Monday morning.

According to authorities, the incident happened inside the Queens residence on 111th Avenue in the Ozone Park section some time before 9:30 a.m.

Officers, who were responding to gunfire, discovered 50-year-old Theodore Ellinghaus dead inside the home. The reported gunfire turned out to be a firework explosive that was detonated.

Neighbors and relatives tell PIX News, Ellinghaus was suffering from delusions for some time. Apparently, earlier today, he heard voices in the second floor of his home and attempted to scare them off with fireworks.

Police were still on the scene Monday, investigating the incident.
