BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11)—F train service between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Avenue X stations resumed Saturday around 7:20 p.m.
The West 8th Street-NY Aquarium Station re-opened to F train customers, but not for those riding the Q. Repair crews are still working on upper level tracks at that station assigned to the Q line.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) says full service should resume on the Q in Brighton Beach sometime Saturday night. Meanwhile, scores of repair crews have been working non-stop to replace damaged tracks, ties and the roof of the signal room.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how the fire got started in the first place.
As an alternative, straphangers can take the B-68 bus or free shuttle buses, which have been picking up the slack since the fire broke out Friday at approximately 6:30 p.m.
