Casino Coat And Toy Drive Helps Hundreds
Inside the Empire City Casino in Yonkers, next to rows of slot machines, there was something else to see today. Piles and piles of toys and coats.

"Looking around and seeing it now, it's certainly growing," the president of the casino, Timothy Rooney said.

What's growing is the annual toy and coat drive. It's the fourth year in a row the casino has teamed up with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, to help families find some warmth and holiday cheer.

The drive brought in 600 toys and coats to give out to families.

"These are hard economic times," Monsignor Kevin Sullivan of Catholic Charities said. "More and more of our neighbors can use a helping hand, and the generosity does help us to reach out."

More families and more children will have present to unwrap because of this drive. The toys and coats will be delivered to Catholic Charities where they will then be sent out to families in need.

"We are one big human family," Sullivan said. "There's a need to think about others during this time of year."
