Death Of Woman, 29 On Lower East Side Ruled Accidental
The details immediately pointed toward a crime scene.

The body of a 29-year old woman – now identified as Carlisle Brigham – found Monday morning bleeding heavily in a stairwell of her apartment building at 191 Orchard Street in the Lower East Side.

But the city medical examiner’s officer now says the woman’s death was accidental – the result of blunt force impact injuries to her head and neck.

M.D. Hossain  says his family is not surprised by the ME’s findings.

“She thinks she believe that it was an accident. She fall down. She said her heel is very high – maybe she had accident,” Hossain told Pix11’s Jay Dow.

Initial reports that Brigham suffered a gash on her neck led to speculation her death might have been the result of foul play.

But her purse and wallet were not taken.

This man – who also lives in the building, told Pix11’s James Ford he tried unsuccessfully to revive her using CPR.

“I did not see a cut on her neck. But what i did see was blood coming out of her nose. She had blood coming out of her mouth, she had blood all over her neck, chest… and i did see a huge gash on her chin right around here,” the neighbor said.
