Fire Breaks Out Inside Springfield Gardens Home

Two children were killed and five others injured after a fire broke out inside a two-family home in the Springfield Gardens section of Queens Thursday.

According to fire officials, the blaze was reported at around 9 a.m. at the home at 182nd Street.

The two brothers, aged 2 and 8, were pulled from the flames by firefighters and rushed to Jamaica Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.

Two other children and three adults were also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze at around 10 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.

Arson investigators were still on the scene Thursday afternoon.
