Queens Child Stabbed Several Times, Mom In Police Custody
A child is fighting for her life after being repeatedly stabbed in Queens Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the child who is believed to be 8-years-old, was stabbed inside a home on 176th Street, near 145th Avenue in the Springfield Gardens section at about 10:40 a.m.

She was transported to Jamaica Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

The girl's mother was placed in police custody. Eyewitnesses tell PIX 11 that the woman stabbed the child, possibly to discipline her.

The area was filled with a heavy police presence as authorities continue their investigation into the stabbing.
