NEW JERSEY (WPIX)—Nearly two weeks after an infant was discovered abandoned outside of a New Jersey high school, police have charged a teacher with assaulting and endangering the 1-month-old.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio, 37-year-old Tamara Reyes was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, child abuse and aggravated assault. A lawyer for Reyes entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of his client at a court hearing Wednesday.
The one-month-old girl was found in a diaper and wrapped in a blanket on a sidewalk outside of Weehawken High School on June 10. The child suffered multiple injuries including a skull fracture. The injuries suggest the victim was tossed on the sidewalk from a moving vehicle, police said.
She remains in stable condition.
