LI Woman Found Dead Inside Burning Car
Police on Long Island are investigating after a body was discovered inside a burning car in a Suffolk County parking lot.

Officials identified the body Thursday as 45-year-old Lauren Fontana, a resident of Middle Island.

According to authorities, officers responded to a report of a car on fire in the Nissequoguq Tuesday at about 11:54 a.m. on Short Beach Road.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a body within.

The Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad is assisting in the investigation while the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office are performing an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
