Searchers recover Prince George County boy's body from quarry pond

Searchers using sonar equipment have recovered the body of a Prince George County boy from a quarry pond.

Prince George police Capt. Brian Kei tells media outlets that murky water and the pond's depth hampered the search for 12-year-old Clacy Sullivan. The depth ranges from 40 to 80 feet.

Searchers found Sullivan's body Wednesday night.

Sullivan slipped and fell into the quarry pond at a Vulcan Materials while playing with two other boys Tuesday. The other boys tried unsuccessfully to rescue him and then ran home to call for help.

Kei says Vulcan posted no trespassing signs and erected two large earthen berms around the quarry pond to keep people out.
