The doodles are featured in the logo design that appears on www.google.com to celebrate special events. The doodles frequently change each day. The "Doodle 4 Google" competition was open to all K-12 students in the U.S. to create a doodle inspired by the theme "My Best Day Ever."
Nicely chose the joy of reading as her theme with a design that features books with all sorts of objects flying out from the books.
"I thought reading was a good choice becaues everyone knows reading is important," Nicely said.
Nicely was one of 130,000 students who entered the contest nationwide. When she found out she won she was surprised. "My mouth just dropped. It was like 'is this a dream?'" Nicely said.
If she wins the nationwide contest she earns a $30,000 college scholarship and the Rockbridge County School will receive a $50,000 technology grant.
