A man who led a Bedford County deputy on a high speed chase faces a number of charges.
On Thursday around 9:30 p.m., a Bedford County deputy sheriff saw a motorcycle traveling east on 460 west of Montvale traveling 79 mph.
According to the news release, as the deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle, the driver looked back, saw the deputy and increased his speed.
During the pursuit the motorcycle reached speeds as high as 120 mph.
The pursuit continued approximately 15 miles.
As the motorcycle approached the intersection of 460 and Wheatland Road, the motorcycle suddenly slowed and attempted to turn left in the median and go back west.
The deputy’s car contacted the rear of the motorcycle and the driver fell off the motorcycle.
The drivergot up and ran, but was apprehended.
The Virginia State Police responded and investigated the accident.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Tyler Songer, age 28, Montvale, Virginia.
He was arrested and transported to the Bedford Adult Detention Center.
He was charged with felony elude a police officer, reckless driving, driving without a license, operate an uninsured vehicle and fail to inspect vehicle.
He was held on a $2,000.00 bond.
