Several hundred homes in the WDBJ7 viewing area are still without power following Tuesday’s icy conditions, according to Appalachian Power’s website.
As of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, there are more than 800 homes without power. Appalachian Power’s website reports that there are 379 customers without power in Montgomery County, 287 in Floyd County, and 164 in Patrick County.

Tuesday’s icy conditions are causing scattered outages for Appalachian Power customers.
Appalachian Power spokesperson Todd Burns said the primary cause of the outages is from ice-covered trees and limbs coming in contact with power lines.
According to Appalachian Power’s website, Floyd County is experiencing the most power outages. Click here to see Appalachian Power’s outage map.
Burns says crews are still trying to assess the damage, so restoration efforts may last into the evening.
