Firefighters battled a fire Tuesday night at Huber Engineered Woods in Halifax County.
Crews received the call around 9:30 p.m. The fire was located in a "press" machine within the plant. It took firefighters about five hours to extinguish it.
No one was injured. No word on what caused the fire.

53 Fire-Rescue Personnel Battle Blaze at Huber Engineered Woods
(Halifax, Virginia) July 6, 2011 - A total of 53 fire-rescue personnel from 5 fire departments and the Halifax County Rescue Squad responded to extinguish a blaze at Huber Engineered Woods located at 1000 Chaney Lane in Halifax. A call from plant personnel around 9:30 PM on Tuesday evening indicated the fire was located in a "press" machine within the plant.
Firefighters battled the fire, which was contained to the second floor of the plant, for close to 5 hours before it was extinguished. There were no reported injuries and all personnel were clear from the scene by 1:50 AM Wednesday morning. The exact cause of the fire and extent of damages sustained are undetermined at this time.
Halifax VFD responded with 5 trucks and 16 personnel; Liberty VFD with 3 trucks and 8 personnel; Triangle VFD with 2 trucks and 15 personnel; South Boston Fire-EMS with 2 trucks and 6 personnel; Midway VFD with 1 truck and 2 personnel; the Halifax County Ladder Truck Company and 4 personnel;Halifax County Rescue with 2 trucks and 5 personnel; and Halifax County Emergency Services with 1 personnel.
