Pothole repairs could slow down traffic on Interstate 81 Monday. Workers are fixing a pothole on a bridge in Pulaski County. That's forced the closure of one southbound lane.
Here is the complete announcement fro the Virginia Department of Transportation:
SALEM - A right lane closure is in place on southbound Interstate 81 at mile marker 94.7 due to repairs to a pothole in the bridge over the New River Trail State Park.
Earlier today, a left lane closure was in place at this same location due to a traffic incident. The incident has been cleared, and the left lane has reopened to traffic.
Around 9:30 a.m., State Police used a rolling roadblock to slow traffic on southbound I-81 while crews shifted traffic controls from a left lane closure to a right lane closure.
The bridge pothole repair is expected to take most of the day to complete, and no exact time for reopening the right lane has been established at this time.
