A Bedford County principal is getting statewide recognition for his efforts to work with students.
Liberty High School's Tim Overstreet is the Virginia Student Council Association "Administrator of the Year." The VSCA is made up of student government leaders from across the state.
Each year the organization chooses one administrator who's made a difference in their school's student council. Overstreet was selected for holding monthly meetings with students, where he hears concerns and offers help.
"We don't have time limits on those meetings," said Overstreet. "We talk until we finish covering the things we need to cover, so I think having that open line of communication with the students has been very important."
Overstreet's win isn't the only big honor for the school. Liberty's student council president, Michelle Cox, was recently voted state president for the VSCA. She will represent Virginia nationally and preside over state meetings and conventions.
