Bassett man faces burglary, gun charges after two reports of burglaries in Bassett on Wednesday

A Bassett man is in jail facing burglary and gun charges after two burglaries were reported in Bassett on Wednesday.

According to a news release, both burglaries took place on Virginia Avenue in Bassett on Wednesday. The first burglary was reported at 11:50 a.m. when the homeowner arrived at his house on Virginia Avenue to see a man running away and entering a white 2001 GMC van parked near the home. Deputies located Gregory Thomas Clark, 43, of Bassett in a wooded area nearby. The homeowner reported that a chainsaw, television, change and jewelry had been stolen. All of these items were returned.

The second burglary took place at 10415 Virginia Avenue in Bassett. The burglary was reported at 1:59 p.m. Items including furniture, keys, a radio controlled car, engines for radio controlled cars and a security camera were reported stolen.

Gregory Clark was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of Grand Larceny and one count of Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon in relation to the burglaries. He is currently being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.
