9/11 Remembrance Events Happening Tuesday in Southwest Virginia

A number of 9/11 remembrance ceremonies are planned for Tuesday in our area.

Roanoke County will ring a bell to honor those who died.

The colors will also be presented and the national anthem will be sung at that ceremony at the County Firearms Training Facility.

It starts at 10:00 am.

The County will also thank The Woodmen of the World fraternity for donating a plaque, flag and flag pole at that facility.

The Danville Sheriff's Office is hosting a similar ceremony.

It starts at 11 am in the plaza in front of the Danville Courthouse.

The Galax Police and fire departments and Galax-Grayson EMS are hosting a remembrance walk.

Anyone is invited to come along.

The event starts at 8:15 am with a ceremony at the Galax Police Department headquarters.

The walk itself will include police, firefighters, EMT's, members of the military, school and city leaders and more.

Lynchburg Police and firefighters will also have a ceremony Tuesday.

That event starts at 6:00 pm at the base of Monument Terrace on Church Street.
