GRANDVIEW, Mo.—The Grandview Fire Department is taking part in a special exchange program. They're hosting two members of the Prague Fire Brigade from the Czech Republic. The exchange program allows Czech firefighters to learn about America's system of fire protection.
The Czech's are especially interested in learning about the use of automatic defibrillators.
"It's something they don't use a lot over in Europe," said Fire Marshall Jim Wilson. "They're starting to use that technology. They're interested in how firefighters and civilians use that, not only the technical challenges but some of the legal challenges."
During their 10 day stay, the Prague representatives will learn about fighting fires in buildings with solar panels. They also plan to visit with firefighters in Olathe and Overland Park.
