The Indiana Department of Transportation has issued a permit to Time Warner Telecom allowing the company to close all lanes of Interstate 465—both eastbound and westbound—at the Allisonville Road bridge on the city’s northeast side this Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
Similar to last Sunday’s full closure required by Comcast, TWT will place a new span of lines across I-465.
The state police will supervise traffic control.
In case of rain, work will be rescheduled.
Utility companies are relocating services at this location in advance of removal and replacement of the Allisonville Road bridge which spans I-465 at Castleton. Demolition will occur immediately after the Memorial Day weekend.
At this time, earthmovers are active at future ramp sites reforming the terrain. None of this work requires lane closures.
This $19 million Major Moves interchange project will add lanes, improve traffic flow, enhance safety and raise the elevation of the Allisonville Road bridge, which is the lowest structure crossing the I-465 loop. Walsh Construction, the state’s contractor, is charged with building the new bridge within a 110-day closure period to minimize inconvenience to the motoring public and area merchants.
