How many times have you wished for more technology in your restaurant experience?
A California (of course) startup company is offering to put the menu and the bill on a tablet device that may go a long way to eliminating that human element. For good or for bad.
E La Carte wants to bring these devices to your local establishment. Called Presto, the technology would allow you to order your food, and later swipe your credit card to pay.
They say they have talked to restaurants above fast food establishments and below the five star type of eateries.
It's not a unique idea. Companies like Olive Garden are looking into designing their own systems. And some signs point to Applebees being the site of a broader test of Presto.
One thing for sure, it's very hard to flirt with a nice looking electronic device.
