Chris Pratt Follows Through on Promise to Surprise Sick Kids in Hospitals
Aug 21 (TheWrap.com) - Chris Pratt â a movie star, TV star and all-around cool dude â has lived up to the promise he made before âGuardians of the Galaxyâ became a massive box office hit, and visited a sick fan in the hospital this week.
A picture (below) of Pratt visiting Dylan Prunty, a.k.a. âLego Kid,â at the Los Angeles Children's Hospital blew up on Reddit after being posted on Wednesday.
Prunty, a boy with mitochondrial disorder, is a huge fan of the building block toys â the inspiration for Pratt's first blockbuster, âThe Lego Movie,â in which he voiced the lead character.
Although Pratt made the appearance on behalf of the Warner Bros. hit, he expressed a desire to make sick kidsâ dreams come true when promoting Marvel's âGuardians,â and even said he stole his Star-Lord costume from the production to help him do it.
âI stole the jacket and some of the wardrobe so that, if this movie comes out and does what everyone hopes it can, I can follow the example of someone â say, like, a Russell Wilson, you know â and go visit kids,â Pratt explained. âIf it was a big enough movie, to where it would mean something to a kid who's sick in the hospital â for Peter Quill or Star-Lord to come visit them â I'll do that. I think that's awesome, man. That would give me real meaning for this movie, you know?â
Pratt, who rose to fame as delightful doofus Andy Dwyer on NBC comedy âParks and Recreation,â will next be seen in âJurassic World,â so he'll have no shortage of characters to break out in front of children stuck in hospitals.
Here's the proof that Pratt wants to use his movie star powers for good:
