Hagen Ranch Road to be restudied for traffic signal

Hagen Ranch Road to be restudied for traffic signal

January 23, 2015

Q: Is a traffic signal planned at Gateway Road and Hagen Ranch Road? With oncoming traffic on Hagen Ranch, the new Villagio development and all the communities of Oriole, making turns onto Hagen Ranch is almost impossible.

  • Stop sign in West Boca to be removed

    January 19, 2015

Q: We have a ridiculous stop sign where Glades Road turns into Palmetto Park Road in West Boca. No one stops here, because there is no traffic to stop for. Westbound Palmetto Park drivers only stop if they are making a U-turn. I contend this stop sign should be removed.

  • Quiet zones coming to tracks that parallel U.S. 1

    January 2, 2015

Q: There is conflicting information on the establishment of quiet zones on the Florida East Coast Railway, the use of automated horns at crossings or the continued horn blasts from trains. Can you provide definitive answer?

  • Motorcycles can ride in HOV lanes

    December 26, 2014

Q: I have been told by several law enforcement officers that it is legal for motorcycles to ride with one person in the HOV lanes. Could you get us motorcycle riders some clarification?

  • Cops can't ride solo in HOV lanes at rush hour

    December 19, 2014

Q: Every rush hour I see cruisers from the sheriff's offices in Broward and Palm Beach counties as well as other police agencies driving in the Interstate 95 HOV lanes with one person in the vehicle. Is law enforcement allowed to do this?

  • Hollywood turnpike toll booths disappearing

    December 15, 2014

Q: What kind of work is being done at the Hollywood interchange on Florida's Turnpike?

  • Sawgrass on-ramp from Turnpike gaining additional lane

    December 7, 2014

Q: What is happening at the Sawgrass Expressway interchange at Florida's Turnpike? Construction has been going on forever. Delays on the southbound turnpike exit to the Sawgrass seem to sometimes stretch all the way to the Broward/Palm Beach county line.

  • Turnarounds on Alligator Alley for official use only

    November 30, 2014

Q: There used to be deceleration lanes on Alligator Alley before the entrance to the boat ramps on the south side of highway. You could turn around in the median and enter the rest area with the boat ramps. How do you access the boat ramp now from Alligator Alley?

  • Color-coded light poles on I-595 assist crews

    November 23, 2014

Q: What's the purpose of the color-coded light poles in the Interstate 595 express lanes?

  • Davie Blvd. drawbridge openings lead to snarls

    November 16, 2014

Q: Can you check the traffic signal timing on Davie Boulevard? In the morning, eastbound Davie backs up from Interstate 95 all the way to Southwest Ninth Avenue. In the evening, westbound Davie backs up from U.S. 1 to Southwest 15th Avenue.

  • No plans for I-195 exit from I-95 express lanes

    November 10, 2014

Q: Why wasn't an exit built from the Interstate 95 express lanes to Interstate 195? When I go to Miami Beach, I take the flyover to westbound State Road 112, then exit at Northwest 22nd Avenue and get back on eastbound S.R. 112 which leads to I-195. I have to pay a toll, but if traffic isn't bad it only takes an extra five minutes.

  • Pembroke Road overpass will have no ramps at I-75

    November 3, 2014

Q: I'm concerned that the new Pembroke Road bridge over Interstate 75 won't include an interchange and that in a few years, officials will change their minds and decide to put in ramps. Why not just make it happen now?

  • State says skid overlay on I-95 in Lake Worth working

    October 27, 2014

Q: What has caused Interstate 95 over the Lake Worth Canal to have such a noticeable bump? It shakes my coffee in the cup holder.

  • Red-light camera ruling impact still unclear

    October 20, 2014

Q: Can you advise whether the recent ruling from the Fourth District Court of Appeals on red light cameras is retroactive, meaning the city of Hollywood needs to refund any citations issued in the past?

  • Sample Road intersection gets second left turn

    October 13, 2014

Q: Can the eastbound left turn lane signal be lengthened on Sample Road at Powerline Road? It's too short and a lot of slow-moving trucks tie up traffic if they are turning left.

  • Ramp to Sawgrass no longer free

    September 29, 2014

Q: Why are they putting toll booths on the southbound on-ramp to the Sawgrass Expressway from Pat Salerno Drive? That ramp has always been free since they built it. It will change driving patterns and more traffic will go to Sunrise Boulevard to avoid the toll.

  • Drivers fume over blocked Davie Blvd. intersections

    September 22, 2014

Q: Can signs be put up warning drivers not to block the intersections of Davie Boulevard at Andrews Avenue and Southwest Fourth Avenue adjacent to the Florida East Coast Railway crossing? Rush hour traffic backs up daily because drivers get stuck in the intersections when a train passes, or sometimes it backs up from the next intersection.

  • Stretch of Bayview Drive getting FPL upgrade with new poles

    September 15, 2014

Q: Why has Bayview Drive been closed between Oakland Park and Commercial boulevards, including closures on Sunday?

  • New runway tunnel lights adjust with conditions outside

    September 8, 2014

Q: I have not seen anything written about the danger posed driving through the new runway tunnels on U.S. 1 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on sunny days. One must drive in very bright sunlight, then under a bridge where it is suddenly dark, then in bright sunlight again. The glare is tremendous.

  • HOV hours unlikely to be extended

    August 25, 2014

Q: Can you help explain why the HOV lane hours on Interstate 95 are only from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. With longer work hours and longer commutes in South Florida, it makes sense to extend the hours. In other metro areas around the country, the hours are from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays.

    August 11, 2014

  • I-95 being restriped to allow for express lanes

    August 4, 2014

Q: What is going on with Interstate 95 between Fort Lauderdale and Aventura? The road is hazardous and the lane stripes are very confusing. When are they going to repave it?

  • Express lanes can charge tolls on interstates

    January 16, 2009

Q: I remember during the Eisenhower administration, federal tax dollars were appropriated for the construction of Interstate 95 and other interstate highways. A big hullabaloo was reported in the newspapers about the statement that no state would receive funds to build the highway if tolls were charged Am I mistaken? If this is fact, who changed it? And how can tolls be allowed on Interstate 95 between Miami and Fort Lauderdale? Robert Katz, Boynton Beach
