Dover Doug agrees with Punxsutawney Phil. He also saw his shadow and quickly went back to bed.
Poor Richard, who has been stuffed for a number of years, did not see his shadow at the York Elks Club. Octoraro Orphie also failed to see his shadow at the 102nd gathering of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge of Quarryville.
This German tradition says if a hibernating animal sees its shadow on February 2, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will continue for another six weeks. If the animal does not see a shadow, an early spring will come.
